The central government"s new liaison office chief in Hong Kong is proactively fulfilling his duty after taking office on Jan 4, visiting local influential figures to exchange views on how to put the city back on track.
Luo Huining, director of the Liaison Office of the Central People"s Government in the HKSAR, met with former chief executive Leung Chun-ying on Friday afternoon.
According to a press release issued by the office, Luo and Leung talked about ways of restoring social order, maintaining stability and prosperity, and fully implementing "one country, two systems".
Luo also sent his regards to Leung for his contribution to the city"s well-being. Leung is now a vice-chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People"s Political Consultative Conference.
The new liaison chief also met with Tung Chee-hwa — the SAR"s first chief executive — on Thursday afternoon. Tung is also a CPPCC National Committee vice-chairman.
The press release said Luo noted Tung"s historic contributions to implementing "one country, two systems" in the HKSAR as the city"s first chief executive, while devoting his efforts to boosting Hong Kong and the nation"s development as a CPPCC National Committee vice-chairman.
